Rosa Canina or Dog Rose were encouraged to grow in the wild during wartime as the rosehips contain large amounts of vitamin C. You can make marmalade with The rosehips too.

I think this Photinia shrub featured in April on my blog. The red leaves are so fantastic that two months later it has captured my heart again.

Today we walked from Mersham to Dorking and I Saw a Wild Orchid for the first time. This one is called 'Common Orchid'. (Not so common if you ask me.)

I have just found out that most Pallegoniums leaves and flowers can be eaten. You can get lemon or rose scented flowers which you can dry to infuse tea.

Dandylion buds are pretty awesome. The flowers are also one of the first plants to provide pollen for bees in early summer. Great to have in a wild flower meadow too.

The Elderflowers are in bloom. There are only two weeks of the year when these flowers are suitable for harvesting.

I took this photo with my Camera rather than my phone. I should do this more often as it looks a lot better. The contrast of light and dark between the yellow leaf and decking is quite stunning.

We went to Chelsea Flower Show today! These strawberries were displayed on a column. Such an interesting idea and a great use of space for a small garden.

Today was another hot day. I recall learning very early on that you should never photograph facing the sun. Well as you can see, I really like the way you can create rays, blurs and sun spots on your photo. I think the sun can add atmosphere and interest to a photo.  I imagine with layering on photoshop you could take multiple images of the same subject using these sun effects to create a picture.

Today I found a secret park in Spitalfields called Elder Gardens. I also found a different coloured version of the poppy bush which I posted earlier this month.

The colours and the blending of the hues within the Primula  flowers inspire Me to create floral fabrics for children's dresses.

Phew, it's been a scorcher today. It feels like summer has arrived. Roses are definitely the flower for this season.

I have been appreciating this yellow rose, on the way back from work every day for a couple of weeks. I have finally photographed it. This photograph reminds me how fun it is to play with perspective as I have focused on the Rose's leaves here (deliberately 😉). Making the background the foreground by swopping the focus and detail on the background. The blurred rose here looks like it is shining brightly too which I like.

Today James cut back the Aliums so they put their energy into their bulbs rather than going to seed. I was a bit sad to see them go as they looked great in the pot but James surprised me by giving  them to me to put in a varse and it turns out they look even better there.

I found this Clematis in a little garden outside an old people's home near where I live. This garden has provided me with a lot of joy. I hope the people in the home enjoy it to.
